Curling Wands & Irons
Whether you crave a head full of springy, luxurious curls or simply want to curve the ends of your hair under, lift your bangs or add some movement to your style, a good curling wand or iron will be your most valuable tool. There are many options available at Belk.
The quality of your curling iron matters, not just in terms of how well it styles and how long your hair holds its curls, but how the tool treats your hair. Ceramic and tourmaline hair wands do the least damage to your hair because they disperse the heat evenly throughout the length of the barrel. Tourmaline wands also release negative ions that coat the individual hairs and close the cuticles, locking in moisture and preventing frizziness.
A curling wand with variable heat settings allows you to curl your hair on the lowest setting that gets the job done. Start with the lowest setting for fine, color-treated or damaged hair, below 200 degrees. Thick, coarse or curly hair may need a higher setting, between 200 and 300 degrees to hold the curls. Always use the lowest temperature that works for you to avoid damaging your hair. Try using volumizing shampoo and conditioner to help your hair to curl. Also, apply a lightweight hair serum or styling gel before using the curling iron to help make your curls last without using a hotter temperature.
